OBITUARY OF HENRY WEIDMAN

Henry Weidman, one of the oldest settlers in Davis County died at his home in Union township, on last Sunday morning at 8:30 o'clock.á He had been a sufferer for some time with paralyses, and as the end drew near he was resigned to the call of the “grim reaper”. He was born in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania on January 26, 1830, where he lived for many years, then removed with his parents to Indiana. At the age of 21 years he changed his residence to the state of Ohio, where he resided for four years. He came to Davis County when 25 years of age, and has lived here since.

áAt the age of 26 years he was married to Nancy Jane Roiminger. To complete this companionship there were born seven children. One little girl joined the angel hosts early in life, six children still remain, and all were present at the funeral; Mrs. Carry Swinney, Mrs. Mary Hayden, George, Lizzie, Jesse and Charles. The mother was laid to rest in July 1887, in the cemetery near the Shunem Church where the father was buried.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Daily of the M.E. Church, at the home of the deceased, from the text "If man die, shall he live again".

This kind hearted and true father was tenderly laid to rest beside his beloved companion (around 31 years) and kind friends and neighbors assembled to drop a farewell tear on the casket of the good man.

Henry Weidman, an old time citizen of Davis County, died at his home, 8 miles northeast of this city (Bloomfield, Iowa) Sunday. The remains interred in the Huffman Cemetery.
