Former Governor's Father Succumbs
Funeral for Dan A. Brewer, 79, of 308 Brookhaven St. SW, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Brown Service Funeral Home chapel, the Rev. W.K. Stephenson officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.
Mr. Brewer died today at Decatur General Hospital.
He attended First Baptist Church in Decatur. He was a member of the IBEW Local 558 and was retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority.
Mr. Brewer is the father of former Alabama Gov. Albert P. Brewer of Decatur.
He is survived by two other sons, Joe F. Brewer of Florence and Col. Harry Brewer of Langley Air Force Base, Va; a daughter, Mrs. Gary Rodgers of Decatur; a sister, Cora Ewell of Boonesville, Miss; 11 grandchildren; a great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Greg Brewer, Jeff Brewer, Danny Rodgers, Jim Cooper, Mark Calhoun and Bob Yarber.
