GREENFIELD – Marjorie E. (Freeman) Maynard, age 83, died Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Golden Living Center- Brandywine. Born on September 20, 1926 in Maywood, Illinois, she was the daughter of William and LaVaughn (Graff) Freeman. She graduated from Carthage High School in 1944. She married Carroll Drake who preceded her in death, and later married Garret B. Maynard Sr.
Marjorie worked for the Hancock County Clerks Office in the microfilm department for 16 years before retiring in 1988. She had also previously owned a restaurant in Arlington, Indiana, with her first husband and was a waitress at the Bluebird in Morristown. Mrs. Maynard was a member of the Dunreith Christian Church and had been a Brownie leader. She enjoyed making crafts.
Surviving her are her children, Ronald (Jean) Carwein of Greenfield, Debra (Don) Drake-Strahl of Greenfield, Garret B. (Shelly) Maynard Jr. of Greenfield, and Brent Maynard of Indianapolis; sister, Jane Farringer of Spiceland, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and 2 great great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, Carroll Drake, husband, Garret B. Maynard Sr., and son, Danny Joe Drake.
Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield with calling from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
