Captain John Waterman, a sea captain, who 'went on China voyages', and who was also known as 'Paper Mill John', he erecting one of the first paper mills in America. Captain John Waterman married Mary Olney, eldest daughter of Captain Olney, founder of Olneyville, R. I. Captain Olney was a son of James and Hallelujah (Brown) Olney, she a daughter of Daniel Brown, son of Chad Brown.
