Susan M. Russell was the third of six children born to Jacob Isenhour and Mary Newman Isenhour. Quoting from her obituary in the STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, JUNE 16, 1897, page 8, column 4, and posted on the Steuben County, Indiana USGenWeb: "In 1855, at the age of 25 years, she was united in marriage with Peter W. Russell, with whom she lived a happy and contented life for more than forty years. Soon after their marriage Mr. And Mrs. Russell settled at Quincy, Michigan, three years later moved to Orland, and in 1859, took up their residence in Angola, where they engaged in keeping hotel... To them were born two children, Clarence, who died at the age of eighteen months, and Maud, the younger, ... the wife of Morton D. Teal, of Toledo, Ohio. Mrs. Russell was very highly respected by all who knew her, and her deeds of charity were many. She was a devoted and faithful member of the Christian church in Angola..."
