Peacetime Medal of Honor Recipient. Also known by his real name Michael J. Garvey, he entered the US Navy at Massachusetts and served as a Boatswain's Mate. His citation reads "For jumping overboard from the US training ship New Hampshire, at Newport, R.I., 21 April 1882, and rescuing from drowning Francis T. Price, third class boy".
