Miles was the son of Jerry and Mamie (Gartman) Pierce of Citronelle, AL. He was the first born of their seven children and their only son.
He joined the military in 1948 and served for 24 years in the Army and the Air Force before he retired. He was a Viet Nam Veteran who served two tours and earned several medals including two bronze stars for valor in combat.
He married Jimmie Nell Lawler of Hodges, AL and they had four children: Catherine Elizabeth (still born), Larry Arnold, Donald Ray (who died in 1982) and Cecil Eugene.
Miles and Jimmie lived in Anchorage Alaska for over 35 years before moving to Randle, WA. He was very active in the VFW.
Miles passed away on June 12, 2007 from complications related to a recent surgery to remove a malignant brain tumor. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Catherine, son Donnie, father Jerry Jr, mother Mamie, and two sisters Joyce Riordan and Katie Grantham.
He is survived by his wife Jimmie, two sons Larry and Cecil, four grandchildren: Daysha, Jena, Michelle and Michael, several great- grandchildren, and four sisters: Jeraline Martin, Betty Shadrach, Bobby Pierce and Carolyn Walker.

He was my mother's brother, my Uncle Buck. Although he lived far away from me and I didn't get to see him much, I always had a tremendous amount of love and respect for him. He was a very good man.
