Organized Crime Figure. Known as "Jimmy Brown," he started out as Mafia Boss Carlo Gambino's driver and rose to the rank of Captain and Acting-Boss in the Gambino Organized Crime Family during the reigns of Gambino, Paul Castellano and John Gotti. He was a powerful figure in the garbage carting business. He died of natural causes in a federal prison in Texas. His son, James, Jr. was shot and killed in his car in the parking lot of a bowling alley in Staten Island, New York on October 5, 1985. He was 28 years old.
