Orval G. Young, 79, of Columbus Convalescent Center, 2100 Midway, died Tuesday at Bartholomew County Hospital. He had been seriously ill a week.
Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Reed and Jewell Funeral Home by the Rev. Thomas Phillips. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Persons may call at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
Young was born Feb. 25 1898, in Bartholomew County to Andrew P. and Lottie C. Prewitt Young. He married the former Hazel Frost Nov. 4 1931, and she resides at 2100 Midway.
An Army veteran of the first world war, he was retired from Product Engineering Co.
Other survivors include a stepdaughter, Martha Manning of Dayton, Ohio.
