Arnold M. Laabs A funeral service will be held for Arnold M. Laabs of Cedarburg at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 6, at the Mueller Funeral Home in Cedarburg. Arnold passed away at his residence on Sunday, June 1, 2008 at the age of 82.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, prior to the service. The Rev. Kenton Wendorf will conduct the funeral service. Interment will take place at Immanuel Cemetery in Cedarburg.

Arnold was born on the family farm in Grafton, on Nov. 2, 1925, son of the late Henry and Adela (nee Laubenstein) Laabs. He worked for many years on the family farm, until he joined the U.S. Army during 1946 and 1947. Arnold later married Vivian Scherf on Oct. 18, 1980 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg.

Arnold was an avid bowler, fisherman, hunter and trap-shooter. He loved growing his own flowers at his residence, going to flea markets, watching baseball, but he really loved the Green Bay Packers. Arnold was a fun-loving person who always had a smile on his face. He was willing to help anyone and everyone and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

The family would like to thank the chaplains and nurses from Vitas Hospice, the staff from Aurora Visiting Nurses Association, the staff at Columbia St. Mary's Hospital and all of Arnold's doctors.

Arnold is survived by his wife, Vivian (nee Scherf) Laabs; sister, Edna Winter; brothers-in-law, Chester Scherf and Stewart (Louise) Scherf; and sister-in-law, Eunice Goeppert. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Arnold was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
