Upon his return home he studied law and became an aide to Senator and Apostle Reed Smoot.
Upon his second mission as Pacific Mission President, it again fulfilled his early blessing that he would become, "greatly beloved by that people," in which his labor of love there is still evident among all the Saints of the islands.
