W.D. CLINGMAN FUNERAL TO BE HELD TOMORROW
Funeral Services for Walter D. Clingman, who was born in Chicago 78 years ago, will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the home of his brother, George F. Clingman, 7210 Euclid avenue. Mr. Clingman died Friday.
Mr. Clingman was born at 44 Monroe street, where the Palmer house now stands, when Chicago's population was but 34,000. His mother, who was Harriett Hoffman, settled here in 1835, coming from New York by boat. His father, William, came by wagon from Pennsylvania, arriving in 1844. The father went into business at 183 Lake street in 1848, later building a home on a site that is now 817 Wabash avenue, which was then in the country.
Walter Clingman was associated with the Tobey Furniture company. He retired four years ago. He was a member of the Bryn Mawr Golf club and of the Windsor Park club. He is survived by two brothers and two sisters: Charles W., Hollywood, and George F., Chicago, and Mrs. Laura Halsey, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Gertrude Stedman, Chicago.
