According to Dr. E. Frank Reed, County Coroner, he died Wednesday afternoon of an accidental overdose of alcohol and drugs. His body was discovered shortly after 1 p.m. by the housekeeper at the motel.
He was a construction worker.
He was the son of the late Henry "Hattie" Ashcraft and Della Shelby Ashcraft.
Surviving are his wife; Mrs. Jean Lawson Ashcraft, a son; Roy Henry Ashcraft in Vietnam, four sisters; Mr. Ruby Ashcraft Mitchell, of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Lois Ashcraft Spakes, Mrs. Robbie Ashcraft Koonce and Mrs. Margie Ashcraft Floyd, all of Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
Funeral services will be held at Center Church of Rowell community, Cleveland County, Arkansas by the Rev. Harold Thompson.
Burial will be in Rowell Cemetery, by Buie Funeral Home of Rison.
Pallbearers will be Rex Shelby, R. L. Jacks, Homer Johnston, Hersey Nelson, Owen Ashcraft, Doug Goudy, Grover Smith and John D. Sanders. OBIT provided by Linda Newman
