Edward Waller, Pioneer Realty Dealer, Is Dead
Edward C. Waller, 85 years old, pioneer real estate operator and a leading developer of Chicago's earliest skyscrapers, died last night at his home in Auvergne place, River Forest. He was a member of one of the city's oldest families.
Born in Maysville, Ky., Mr. Waller came to Chicago in 1860, and later established a real estate business which he directed actively for 65 years and up until he became ill last summer. He was president of the Central Safety Deposit company, which he founded and which built the old Home Insurance company building. This, with the old Tacoma building, was the forerunner of the modern skyscraper. He was president of the North American Accident Insurance company.
Mr. Waller, in addition to city realty interests, was a strong proponent of reforestation, and replanted hundreds of acres of his own land in the Charlevoix district, with pine trees. He was a member of the Union League, Saddle and Cycle and other clubs, and belonged to the association of commerce and real estate board.
Surviving Mr. Waller are his widow, Mrs. Mary Kirk Waller, and six children, Mrs. Robert W. Eckert, Miss Elizabeth Waller, Edward C. Jr., Henry, Mrs. E. W. Connell [Eva], and Mrs. George T. Langhorne [Mary].
--Chicago Tribune, 14 January 1931, pg. 24

spouse1: Rebecca De Reinier Hawley, married 16 Jun 1868 — Detroit, Michigan
spouse2: Mary Kirk, married 02 Apr 1884 — River Forest, Cook, Illinois

Daughter Rebecca Hawley Waller Eckart passed away 12 Apr 1951, Chicago. All four of her death notices/obituaries that I found neglected to mention which cemetery - I'm guessing Rosehill.
