James F. Comiskey was born to parents James and Mary Comiskey from Brooklyn, Kings County, New York. Both of his parents were born in Ireland and immigrated to the United States between 1905 and 1906.

James was one of 10 children. He is buried in the row next to his brother, Thomas P. Comiskey, (F-A-G Memorial #63285942), and Thomas' wife, Helen Brennan Comiskey, (F-A-G Memorial #63285961).

During World War II, James served his country proudly in the United States Air Force. He enlisted on March 23, 1943 in New York City.

In the mid 1940's James married Ruby Geboe Frank. Ruby's parents were John Chartis and Lucy Bearskin Geboe. When they married, James gained two step-children from Ruby's previous marriage to Henry Frank, Sr. James met Ruby in Missouri, but he moved to Oklahoma in 1944. Through the years of their married life, James and Ruby lived in several states. They had no children together.

James had a 25 year career as an employee at OG&E before he retired. Over the years, he belonged to various OG&E clubs. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 352.

One of James' hobbies was cooking a gourmet meal. He was a great chief and he loved to serve his food in style. His extended family always looked forward to the holidays, as they knew Jim would have something special on the menu for them the minute they arrived. Therefore, it was with great anticipation and excitement when the family drove into his driveway to start their holiday gathering.

James died on October 11, 1983. His Mass of Christian Burial was held at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Oklahoma City. Interment was at Chapel Hill Cemetery on Northwest Expressway in west OKC. Arrangements for his funeral were by Smith & Kernke.
