Jeannette Smithey Cole passed on December 23, 2010 at the Kansas City Hospice House. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 28th, 6 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 5:30p.m., at McGilley & Sheil Chapel, 11924 E. 47th St. The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 29, at the Nativity of Mary Catholic Church, 10010 E. 40 Highway, with burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. She was born November 8, 1914, in Camden, Missouri, and lived her adult life in the Kansas City area. She was preceded in death by husband, Harry, on July 5, 1995. Jeannette is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Gilbert and Lois, of Harrison, Arkansas; granddaughter, Leslie Cole, of Newport Beach, California; granddaughter, Catherine Frymier, and husband, Matthew; and four great grandchildren: Parker, Hadley, Cole, and Morgan Frymier, of Tiburon, California. She also leaves niece and husband, Mary and Jim Fagan; nieces, Kathy and Jane Hatke; nephew and family Paul Hatke, all of Louisville, Kentucky; and niece and family, Clare and Don Richwine, of Erie, Pennsylvania; and her beloved Sheltie dog, "Sweetie." Jeannette and Harry were members of Nativity of Mary Church. She was a volunteer in service to the Kansas City Veterans Hospital. In retirement years, Harry and Jeannette were active members and officers of Pipe Fitters Local 533 Retirees Club. They spent many peaceful times fishing Missouri and Arkansas lakes. She was an accomplished seamstress and crocheted beautiful linen and table pieces. Favorite times were travel to Europe with granddaughter Catherine; granddaughter Leslies' annual birthday celebrations; and all the antics of the grand and great grandchildren. Christmas time was Jeannette's favorite season and the Kansas City Plaza her favorite Kansas City place. She appreciated fashion, possessed a youthful energy, vibrant spirit, and sense of humor. She was a master pie and cookie baker and possessed a love for all animals. She will be missed and always remembered by all who knew and loved her.
