Husband of Doris Day. He produced some of her work, as well. At the will reading after his death, Doris Day found that their lawyer, Jerome Bernard Rosenthal, had lost the majority of her fortune with bad investments. She sued Rosenthal for malpractice in handling her affairs and won 22.8 million dollars. She eventually settled for six million. She said of the ordeal, "My husband (Martin Melcher) trusted Rosenthal and I trusted my husband."
