Pamela Kinney Newcomer Blackmore, a well knows Kansas Citizen, died February 27, 2009 at Claridge Court.

Pamela was born in Kansas City, Missouri on October 27, 1917 to Margaret Harrison and Seward Harvey Kinney, both native born Kansas Citians. She was a direct descendent of two presidents and a signer of the Declaration of Independence.

She completed grade school and high school in Kansas City, Missouri and attended the University of Missouri at Columbia where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She remained interested in the activities of Kappa throughout her life and received her 65 year pin in 2000.

She was an energetic mother and she loved to host parties for her family. She was an active volunteer in community affairs of Kansas City including the Junior League of Kansas City, Missouri, the American Red Cross, Boy Scouts of America, Nelson Art Gallery and Children's Mercy Hospital, where she served with the Children's Relief Group. She was a past member and office holder of the Fireside Committee of the Kansas City Art Museum as well as serving as a member of the board for the museum. She attended Country Club Christian Church for over 60 years and was a member of Circle 18. Her home was always available and welcoming for meetings and gatherings of these groups. She was also a member of Mission Hills Country Club, Kappa Kappa Gamma and an active member of the Alumni Association at the University of Missouri, a former member of the University Club, Women's Investment Group (WIGS) and Mah Jongg Bridge Club which has met for over 60 years. She was an enthusiastic gardener and generously shared her flowers with friends.

In 1941, Pamela married David W. Newcomer III, a prominent civic leader and businessman. They loved to travel and visited every major country of the world before his death in 1979. In 1983, she was married to J. Gordon Blackmore of Trenton, Missouri. They lived in Shawnee Mission Kansas and spent many happy times in Naples, Florida until his death in 1994.

She is survived by two sons and their wives: David W. IV and Gene Ann Newcomer, Shawnee Mission KS and Douglas B. and Monica Newcomer, Anna Maria, FL. She is also survived by her brother and his wife, Harrison and Caroline Kinney, Port Aransas, TX, five grandchildren; Quint and Lori Newcomer, Athens, GA, Marissa and William Priester, Mark Newcomer and Meghan Newcomer all of New York, NY, Margot Newcomer, Shawnee Mission, KS, and three great grandchildren, Ellery Newcomer, Jane and Susanna Priester. Pamela will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
