Actor. Born in San Francisco, California, he was a veteran character performer best remembered for the role of police 'Chief O'Hara' on the 1960s television series "Batman". After his service in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II, he began his acting career working on the sound stages in the early productions for television shows. He went on to appear on many television shows such as "Frontier", "How to Marry a Millionaire", "State Trooper", "The Phil Silvers' Show", "The Thin Man", "Twilight Zone" and "M.A.S.H.". His feature film credits include "I Want to Live!"(1958), "The Brothers Karamazov" (1958) and "Cycle Psycho" (1972). He died of a heart attack at age 56 in Inglewood, California.
