U.S. Congressman. He attended the Packard Commercial School New York City, then engaged in the general insurance and real-estate business, in Queens, New York. During World War I, he served as a Yeoman First Class, U.S. Navy, (1917-19). After the war, he was a member of the New York State Assembly, (1922-28). In 1929, he was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-first Congress and to the next three succeeding Congresses, serving until his resignation in 1935. He was then Sheriff of Queens County, (1935-36) and president of the board of aldermen of New York City, (1936-38). He resumed the insurance and real-estate business, was commissioner of borough works, Queens County, in 1941 and was president of Peninsula General Hospital, from 1946, until his death at age 77.
