GROSZ, Mrs. Daniel, Jr. (Magdalena Schlechter) 1871-1910 Mrs. Daniel Grosz, Jr., 39, wife of one of our most prominent citizens departed this life at her home in Kulm Tuesday morning, November 22, 1910, after an illness of only a few hours. On Tuesday morning at 5 o'clock, she gave birth to a bright and healthy baby girl, and at the time all seemed well, but later a sudden change came and she died at fifteen minutes to 9 in the morning. On Sunday afternoon, November 27, 1910, a short service was held at the house which was attended only by relatives and immediate friends of Mrs. Grosz. Rev. Vogel officiated at services in the Congregational church. The church was filled to capacity and many who had come were compelled to return home, while others, the bitter cold notwithstanding, stood outside of the church throughout the service. Burial was in the Congregational Cemetery. Magdalena Grosz, a daughter of Fred Schlechter, Sr., was born at Plotzk, South Russia on July 17, 1871. On December 22, 1892, she and Daniel Grosz, Jr. of Kulm were married. To this union, ten children, six sons and four daughters were born. Survivors include her husband, Daniel; their 10 children, Clara, 17; Albert, 15; Lydia, 13; Leonina, 11; Edwin, 9; William, 7; Alvin, 5; Harry, 3; Milton, 2; and the infant daughter, 4 hours old at the time of her mother's death; her father, Fred Schlechter, Sr. of Fessenden, ND; one sister, Mrs. Redmann of Wessington Springs, SD and three brothers, Fred Schlechter, Jr. and Jacob Schlechter, both of Fessenden, ND, and Emanuel Schlechter of Anamoose, ND. Out of town relatives attending the service include her father, her brother Fred, her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Redmann of Wessington Springs, SD; Laura Schlechter of Fessenden; Mrs. George Billigmeier of Harvey, ND; Mr. and Mrs. Schultz of Washburn, ND; Mr. and Mrs. Reister of Streeter, ND; Mr. and Mrs. Handel of Napoleon, ND; Mr. and Mrs. G. D. Grosz of Ashley, ND; Mr. and Mrs. Gustav Mueller of McCluskey, ND and Henry Mogck of Scotland, SD. Pall bears: Peter Billigmeier, George Gackle, Joseph Gackle, Jacob Nill, Daniel Grosz, Sr. and Christian Herr.
