Ferrell, Howard Mitchell "Ace, Shep", age 65, of Morristown, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, June 3, 2002, after a battle with cancer.

He was a member of the Jefferson City Church of Christ. Known by most simply as "Ferrell," he was employed by the Hamblen County Sherriff's Department for 30 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thurman Hollis Ferrell I and Goldia Irene Ferrell; brother, Clarence Ferrell and sister-in-law, Ann Ferrell, all of Muncie, Ind. ]

Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, Rev. T.H. Ferrell II and Norma; daughters and son-in-law, Lucille Michelle Roach and Stacy, Melissa Dawn Ferrell, all of Morristown, and Angela Overby of Nashville; brother, Luke Ferrell of Muncie; sisters, Brenda Wright of San Angelo, Texas, Juanita Ringley of New Castle, Ind.; grandchildren, Brandon, Heather and Caleb Ferrell, Alan Roach and Nicholas Daniels; several nieces and nephews.

Service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2002, at Mayes Mortuary, with Rev. Tony Collins, Rev. John Shoemake and Rev. Benny Burns officiating. Graveside services will be at Hamblen Memory Gardens, with the Morristown Police Honor Guard in charge. The family will receive friends 6-9 p.m., Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at the mortuary. Pallbearers will be members of the Hamblen County Sherriff's Department.
Mayes Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
