Allen, of Lansing, died Thursday. He was born to Harold and Cora (Allen) Leweke. Our dear father, father-in-law, poppy, brother-in-law, uncle and friend passed away at the age of 81.
Al was a builder/architect for Al White Builders/Whitehill Estates, Regional Manager for Wausaw Homes, Insurance Agent for Allstate Insurance, Mt. Pleasant, MI, and worked for Heritage Brick. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, and was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church.
Al was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Mary in 2010.
He is survived by daughters, Cindy (Bill) Brawner, Sandra (Mark) DeNoyelles; son, Richard (Sandy) Leweke; grandchildren, Christina (Brad) Holda, Alan Swihart, Stephanie and Kelsey DeNoyelles, Laura, Lindsay and Lisa Leweke; in-laws, Jim and Joyce Earl; one nephew and several nieces.
The family wishes to especially thank Dennis Cox for his compassionate care for our parents.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at Plymouth Congregational Church, Lansing, MI. with Rev. Joy Baumgartner, and Rev. David T. Banfield officiating. Those desiring may make contributions to Hospice House of Mid-Michigan, Lansing, MI, or to the Plymouth Congregational Church, in memory of Mr. Leweke.
