Services for Ben Moreno Jr., 20, 307 S. Mesquite St., who died at the state penitentiary, are pending with West Funeral Home.
He was born and raised in Carlsbad, attending school here. He was employed at various jobs, the last being a carpet layer. He was a member of San Jose Catholic Church and had been a Thunderbird Indian Dancer.
Survivors include the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben O. Moreno; two brothers, Gilbert G. and Robert; three sisters, Teresa Calanche, Gloria Moreno and Gina Moreno; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Vincente Galindo and Anita O. Moreno, and great-grandmother, Genoveva Ortiz. All are of Carlsbad.

Rosary services will be said today at 7 p.m. in the West Funeral Home chapel for Benjamin G. Moreno Jr., 20, 307 S. Mesquite St., who died Feb. 2. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at San Jose Mission with the Rev. John Curran officiating.
Burial will be in Carlsbad Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Adan Galindo Sr., S/Sgt, Vincente M. Galindo Jr., Valente Morales, Donny Galindo Jr., Johnny Mendoza and Raymond Calanche. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Martin, PFC Patrick Methola, Danny Munoz and Roy Jazo.
