Elizabeth H. "Betty" Unger, 85, of Columbus died at 3 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

A homemaker, Mrs. Unger was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Columbus Antique Club and Cane Ridge Bell Choir at First Christian Church. She also was instrumental in founding Belles and Beaux Square Dance Club.

The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Myers-Reed Dignity Memorial Chapel on 25th Street, with Pastor Paul Haugen officiating. Calling will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until service time Friday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana or St. Peter's Lutheran Church.

Born in Allin Township, Ill., July 19, 1920, Mrs. Unger was the daughter of Martin F. and Ada Volland Tiemeyer. She married Donald B. Unger April 7, 1940, in Columbus.

Survivors include a son, Dennis E. (Barbara A.) Unger of Dillsburg, Pa.; a sister, Martina Tiemeyer of Columbus; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Tiemeyer of Columbus; special friends, Floyd Arnholt and Jan and Wendell Ross; grandchildren, Kimberly (Stephen) Haberman of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Brent (Kelly) Unger of Jacksonville, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Emily and Nicole Haberman; and cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Nov. 21, 1996; and a brother, Marshall Tiemeyer.
