Obituary:

The angel of death has again invaded our community, taking away an aged and sainted mother, in the person of Mrs. Henrietta Shriner, who departed this life at 4:20 a.m., February 14.
The subject of this sketch was a daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth McClellan, deceased, who came to this county in 1812, and located on a farm in West Buffalo Township; where she was born April 2, 1833. She was married May 15, 1859, to Josiah Shriner, when they took up housekeeping in Lewisburg. Mr. Shriner died on February 23, 1900.
Early in life she united herself with the Presbyterian Church at Mifflinburg, and on her removal to this place, united with the First Presbyterian Church at Lewisburg. She was a woman of sterling character, of a cheerful disposition - to know her was to love her, and her friends were legion.
For three years past she has been afflicted with diabetes and dropsy; at times suffering terribly, but she bore it all with Christian fortitude and cheerfulness. For the last ten weeks she was confined to her room; not being able to lie down, she had to sit on a large chair, in which she died.
Since the death of her husband, she and her two daughters, Sarah Estella and Katherine McClellan, have lived together. Many are they who have come in contact with her who can attest to her cheerful, happy disposition. She was, indeed a model wife and mother. With all her suffering she was never heard to murmur, always saying it was to be, it was God's will. The life of Mrs. Shriner was an exemplary one, always thinking and doing for the welfare of those near and dear to her - her children. She had no fear of death - believing that the passing from this life was only to enter the haven of rest - the place prepared for her by the Christ who died that we might live.
Mrs. Henrietta Shriner is survived by five children, viz: Sarah Estella and Katherine McClellan, at home; Mary Elizabeth, married to H.L. Bond, of Lewisburg; Charles Hower, of Cowan; and Emily Crotzer, married to F.M. Derr, of Philadelphia.
Her funeral was held from her late residence on North Second Street, Friday at 2:30 p.m., the services being conducted by her pastor, Rev. W. E. Thomas, D. D.
The internment was made on the family plot in the Lewisburg Cemetery. The pall-bearers were J.B. Forrest, D. C. Brewer, Phillip Wall, Wm. Shields, S. M. Bond, and D. B. Myers.
