Services for A.V. "Red" Adams, 88, of Kilgore will be 4 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002 at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Cochran officiating. Burial will follow in the Kilgore Cemetery.
Mr. Adams died Monday, Nov. 18, 2002 at Longview Regional Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born Aug. 31, 1914 in Kilgore to Sudie and Jep Adams. Mr. Adams served our country in the Army during WWII. He retired from the Kilgore Independent School District in 1977 after 26 years in maintenance. Those who knew him affectionately called him "Red." Mr. Adams lovingly cared for his wife during her 10-year convalescence until her death in 1996. All who knew him will miss A.V.'s kind heart and generous nature.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Elizabeth "Sis" Adams; his parents, three sisters, Edna Carter, Irene Gaw, Vallie Burton Tidmore; and a brother George Adams.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Allison and Julia Adams of Kilgore, Roger and Liz Adams of Hallsville; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
