Inez was born to Alfred and Demaris Barrett on 18 March 1871 in Rives, Michigan. By 1889 her family had moved to Washington State. She married Harry George Shorey on 21 December 1890 in Puyallup. The couple soon after moved to California, where Harry was from.
They had two children, Frederick Maitland Shorey (1892-1959) and Minnie Barrett Shorey (1895-1983).
Unfortunately, in the 1900 census, Inez is found in the Agnews Hospital for the insane in Santa Clara. The two children were being raised by Harry's mother, Malvina, at that time. Harry later remarried and had more children. It is not clear, but Inez probably died before 1910 as there are no more records of her.
