MRS MARTIN'S FUNERAL
One of the Largest Ever Held in This City
The remains of the late Mrs Raymond Martin were laid in their last resting place in the family burial grounds in the Catholic cemetery this morning. The funeral occured from the family residence No 917 Zaragoza street at 9:30 o'clock and from the residence to procession of hundreds of sorrowing relatives and friends following the cortege proceeded to San Agustin pro-cathedreal, where solemn high mass was celebrated. Rt Rev Bishop Peter Verdager assisted by all the clergy of the church conducted the mass and funeral service. Long before the arrival of the cortage the church was filled with people and when those who went to the house arrived the large church was taxed to its full capacity, even to standing room. The prominence of the deceased lady and the esteem in which she was held in Laredo was fully demonstrated by the vast concourse of people in attendance and they were people of all stages in life, from the richest to the poorest. There were people from every section of the county in attendance and they came to the city for the express purpose of attending the funeral. It was one of the largest funerals ever held in this city, every electric street car and public back available besides many private vehicles were required to convey the large assembly to the cemetery.. To say that the floral tributes were numerous does not express it, for it seemed that nearly every family in Laredo sent flowers, besides there were many from San Antonio and other out of town places and all were simply beautiful
