George Lincoln was born on October 19th, 1816, in Worcester, Massachusetts, the son of Levi Lincoln and Martha Sever; married Miss Nancy Hoard, no date.

Appointed as a Second Lieutenant of Infantry with the 4th United States Regiment of Infantry on September 14th, 1837; transferred to the 8th Regiment of Infantry on July 12th, 1838; promoted to First Lieutenant of Infantry on September 28th, 1840; serving as the Regimental Adjutant from September 1st, 1842, to November 1st, 1843; brevetted to the rank of Captain on May 9th, 1846, for gallant conduct in the battles of Palo Alto and Resaca de la Palma, Texas; promoted to Captain of Infantry on February 16th, 1847; appointed as a Brevet Captain and Assistant Adjutant General on July 7th, 1846; serving on the staff of Brigadier General John Wool to February of 1847; killed in action on February 23rd, 1847, at Buena Vista, Mexico.
