Ed was born March 1, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois to Peter and Elizabeth (Jacobson) Markunas. The family moved to Three Oaks in 1942 and Ed graduated from Three Oaks High School in 1943. On November 13, 1948, Ed married Eldora Mangold at the First Congregational Church in Three Oaks. He was a Boy Scout Leader for Troop #551 in Galien for 25 years and also was a volunteer for the Galien Township Ambulance Service for many years. He retired in 1991 from Jack Post as the shipping and receiving Superintendent.
Survivors include his wife, Eldora, sons, Duane Markunas of Falling Waters, West Virginia and Alan Markunas of Three Oaks; granddaughter, Janet Markunas of Three Oaks and brother, Peter Markunas of Frankfort, Illinois
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Pobocik Funeral Home, Three Oaks with Pastor Rich Zeiger officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Three Oaks. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 pm
