Funeral Rites Set for City Pioneer - Mrs. Alice D. Amos Will Be Buried Here Today
Funeral services for Mrs. Alice D. Amos, 82 years old, '89er and mother of Mrs. David Tant, wife of a city attorney, will be held from the Hahn Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Amos died Sunday night at the home of her sister, Mrs. A. O. Kincaid, in Wichita, Kansas. She and her husband made the run here from West Virginia, homesteading north of the city. Included in the land for his sheep ranch was the tract now occupied by Rose Hill Cemetery. He also opened the first shoe store in Oklahoma City.
In 1903, the couple moved near Lawton and again homesteaded, and later moved to Frederick where Amos died in 1923. Mrs. Amos came to live with her daughter here, and last year moved to Wichita. She is survived by Mrs. Tant, and a son, Frank M. Amos, of Woodward.
