Mose (Babe) DeRocher, 80, Wright Park, died at his home Saturday afternoon. He was born at Columbia Heights, Nov. 11, 1878, and was a Brainerd resident for the last 75 years, retiring from the restaurant business 10 years ago.
He was a charter member of the Brainerd Elks Lodge.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9 a. m. from St. Francis Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Thomas F. Scott officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Maybelle; a son, Earl, Brainerd; two daughters, Edith and Mrs. Clare Van Essen, Brainerd; two step-brothers, Raymond, Portland, Ore., and James, Bend, Ore.; a step-sister, Mrs. Leona Prosser, Hollywood, Calif.; and five grandchildren, Bill and Gloria Van Essen, Brainerd, Earl DeRocher, Jr., Cloquet, Darien DeRocher, attending St. John's University, and Mrs. Marcella Wolsted, Harmony, Minn.
Friends may call at the Hoenig-Doran Funeral Chapel this afternoon and evening. A parish rosary will be said at the funeral chapel tonight at 8:30. (Brainerd Daily Dispatch, 17 February 1958, p. 2, c. 3)
NOTE: Clare Van Essen is actually an adopted child of his first wife, Florence, not a biological daughter. grandchildren Bill and Gloria Van Essen and Marcella Wolsted are children of Clare.
