Brewmaster. He moved to the United States in 1846 and established a primitive brewery in Quincy, Illinois. After remaining there for three years, he moved to St. Louis, Missouri and purchased what was then known as the Lafayette Brewery. A pioneer of the beer brewing industry in St. Louis, he conducted business at the brewery until his death. After his death the business was continued under the firm name of Brinckwirth and Griesedieck. It was later known as Brinckwirth, Griesedieck and Nolker. After Mr. Griesedieck died, the business was known as Brinckwirth and Nolker until it was incorporated under the name of Brinckwirth-Nolker Brewing Company. In 1889, along with 18 other St. Louis breweries, it was consolidated into the St. Louis Brewing Association and became the property of one of the largest corporations of its kind in the world.
