Joseph L. Brown Jr., 55, of 833 Main Street, Bentleyville, died at 4:30 P.m. Tuesday, June 11, 1974, in Montefiore Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born June 10, 1919, in Bentleyville to Joseph L. and Margaret McCracken Brown and was a merchant in the Bentleyville area for the past 30 years.
He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church and Beallsville Lodge 237, F&AM, Coudersport Consistory. A veteran of World War II, he was a member of VFW Post 5454 and American Legion Post 165 in Bentleyville. He served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946.
Surviving are his widow, Betty Lee Borland Brown; two sons, Thomas Joseph and Joseph L. III, both of Bentleyville; a daughter, Mrs. John (Margaret Elizabeth) Nickeson, of New Port Ritchie, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Ivanore Brown Horn, of Mesa, Ariz. and Mrs. Thyra B. Grant, of Fisher Heights, Monongahela R.D. and two grandchildren.
