George I. Downing

George I. Downing, formerly of Carrolltion, Mo., died Friday evening at the Flint Hills Manor nursing home.

Mr. Downing retired in 1961 from Sinclair Oil Company.

George I. Downing was born June 12, 1899, at Oleny, Mo., the son of William W. and Mary Jane McMahan Downing. He married Marie Munsill on May 27, 1927, in Kansas City, Mo. She died in 1982.

Mr. Downing is survived by a son, George L. Downing, 1738 Trowman Way; two daughters, Ann McGlaughlin of Kansas City, Mo., and Imogene Forbis of Los Lunas, N.M.; a sister, Anna Tomek of Wichita; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Downing was a member of the United Methodist Church in Carrollton. He was also a member and past master of Wakanda Masonic Lodge 52, A.F. and A.M.. at Carrollton.

The funeral services will be at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday at Gibson-Rice Funeral Home in Carrollton. Masonic graveside services will be conducted at Oak Hill Cemetery at Carrollton.

Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements.
