Musician. He received recognition as an early 20th-century British composer, saxophonist, and bandleader, who was known internationally. In 1927 he produced a 78 RPM recording, "Saxophobia-Moonlight And You." He organized Hal Swain's New Princes Orchestra, which played a roaring 20s type of dance music with a following of fans. In 1930 he appeared in three films, "Hal Swain and His Sax-O-Five," "Classic v Jazz," and "Black and White." He did tour the United States in 1926, playing Nashville, which was recorded. He continued to perform into the 1940s. A 1941 sheet music of his with signature was auctioned for $250.
