Dorothea Baumgarten Wolters, daughter of Frederick and Wilhelmina Baumgarten was born in Barum, Hanover Germany on December 2, 1853 and died at her home on Locust Street on Sunday evening, October 30, 1921. When the deceased was 8 years old, her family came to America and settled on a farm in the town of Westfield where she grew to womanhood. On April 14, 1874 she was united in marriage to Wm. Wolters. To them were born 9 children, 2 dying in infancy. About 10 years ago the family moved to Reedsburg where they have since made their home. Mrs. Wolters had been in failing health for 3 years and suffered a stroke of paralysis Saturday morning, which resulted in her death on Sunday.
Immediate relatives include the husband, Wm. Wolters; 3 daughters, Mrs. Ed Schulze, Mrs. Herman Westphal, Mrs. Reinhart Schulze; 4 sons, Edward, Albert, Gilbert and Arnold; 3 sisters, Mrs. John Koenig of Baraboo, Mrs. Henry Schulze of Westfield, Mrs. Martin Choinski of Chicago; three brothers, Gus Baumgarten of Loganville, Fred of Baraboo and Herman of Columbus, Wisconsin 1 half brother, Otto Meyer of Ableman.
