On the 1850 Dist. 51, Rockbridge Co., VA census, I found farmer Elisha Paxton, 66, with $20K in real estate; Margaret Paxton, 57 and farmer John G Paxton, 18, all VA born. (John Gallatin Paxton, 9 Nov 1832 - 15 Sep 1859 in MS)
Daughter Rachel Eleanor married John Wm E Buckner on 13 Oct 1846, in Rockbridge Co., VA. He was born in Lexington, VA in 1819, and died 25 Dec 1857. They had Colin/Calen, Wm E., Martha and Elisha P. (See Buckners of VA and the Allied Families of Strother and Ashby by Wm A Crozier and Howard R Bayne for more data.) Rachel was born 4 Mar 1825, died 25 Jul 1865. The Rockbridge County Death Register says R E Buckner, the daughter of Elisha and M Paxton, aged 40, born and died in Rockbridge Co., in July 1865, of Typhoid Fever. It was reported by father Elisha.
