Folk Figure. David Kennison arrived in Chicago during the 1840s being a veteran of the War of 1812. He became a local celebrity by claiming to be the last known survivor of the Boston Tea Party and a veteran of the Revolution. According to the plaque at his burial site, he lived to be over 115 years old, though historians have established that he was approximately 84 at the time of his death. In 1903 a monument was erected to Kennison at his gravesite in Lincoln Park.
