Meyer Seigel, 65, well-known central Illinois merchant and a resident of Springfield for forty years, died at 7 a.m. yesterday at St. John's hospital. Mr. Seigel, who was born in Russia, operate a men's clothing store in Auburn for 17 years. A year ago he opened a similar establishment at 621 East Washington street in this city.
Mr. Seigel is survived by his wife, Fannie; five daughters, Mrs. M. H. Dubin, Girard; Mrs. N. Strum, Springfield; Rona, Lena and Frances all of Springfield; three sons, Harry and Joe, Springfield; and Herman, Chicago; three brothers, William and Mandel, Philadelphia, Pa., and Zachara, Buenos Aires, South America; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Mr. Seigel, who had planned to celebrate his golden wedding anniversary next month, was taken to St. John's hospital Friday. Services will be held at the residence today, followed by church services at the Congregation B'Nai Abraham. Burial will be made in Oak Ridge cemetery.
