Elizabeth Dobbins was born 10 Mar 1753 in Orange County, North Carolina. She was the second wife of Captain James Trousdale. Elizabeth was a member of a prominent family in North Carolina and the mother of Governor William Trousdale of Tennessee. Elizabeth Dobbins married the widower, James Trousdale in 1775. He died in 1818 and she received his pension, pension claim # 4525. Source: Oregon State Roster of Ancestors, DAR. 1963. They had 10 children: James, Robert, Jonathan, Catherine, Agnes, Sarah, William, Bryson, Jesse and Nancy.

She was "daughter of William Dobbins. In 1820 she was living in Gallatin with Nancy (her daughter) and owned 6 slaves (Census). She was living with Bryson in Roberston Co. in 1830 but probably returned to Gallatin before she died. Bryson administered her estate. Her children then (1839) living were: Robert, William, Catherine (Catron Cowan), Bryson and Nancy." She is buried in the Trousdale family plot in the Gallatin City Cemetery.
