Dr. James D. Arnett, age 60 of Douglas, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 1994, at Coffee Regional Hospital following an extended illness. Dr. Arnett was a native of Union Springs, Al, and was born on October 15, 1934 to Floye Mae Rodgers Arnett Ezell, and the James Dewey Arnett.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church, a former Douglas City Commissioner, a member of the Georgia Optometry Association. He provided indigent care for over 30 years with the Lyons Sight Conservation Program, and a former Chairman of the Mental Health Association. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served during the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include; wife, Jan S. Arnett of Douglas; daughter, Jeanette Denise Arnett; sons, James Daniel Arnett, Jr. and wife, Randi; and John David Arnett; mother, Floye Mae Ezell of Blakely, Ga.

Funeral services were held at 4 pm Thursday, December 1, 1994, at the First Baptist Church, with Rev. Jack Cory and Dr. William Connell officiating. The interment followed in the Douglas City Cemetery.

Sims Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
