Renee L. DeSwarte, age 37, of Manitowoc, died Thursday, April 21, 2005, at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers, after a tough battle with cancer surrounded by her loving husband and parents. Renee was born Oct. 12, 1967, in Two Rivers, daughter of David and Anita (Beitzel) Skarvan.

She graduated from Washington High School with the class of 1986. Renee attended Martin's College of Cosmetology graduating in 1987. She furthered her education at Lakeshore Technical Institute with an associate degree as a certified medical assistant.

On Jan. 7, 1997, Renee married Edward H. DeSwarte in Manitowoc. She was employed as a customer service representative in sales at Extrutech Plastics in Manitowoc.

Renee was an avid Packer fan and enjoyed watching football, playing board and card games on Friday nights, and going to her children's school events. She loved camping and the smell of a smoky campfire. Renee bowled in a league with her Mom and enjoyed being the family beautician.

Renee was an active blood donor. She and her husband, Ed, had a Saturday morning date every eight weeks giving blood and enjoying breakfast together.

Survivors include her husband, Edward H. DeSwarte, Manitowoc; four children, Zachary, Lindsay, Jeremy and Justin, all at home; her parents, David and Anita Skarvan, Two Rivers; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike and Lynn Skarvan, Two Rivers, and Wayne and Barb Skarvan, Grandville, Mich.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Dawn and Bob Spaeth, Rockford, Mich., and Christine and John Michael, Cleveland, Minn.; mother-in-law and father-in-law, John and Gloria DeSwarte, Oconomowoc; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Rose and Dave Bruder, Oconto, Ginny and Charlie Thomasicyk, and David and Nadine DeSwarte, all of Merton, Wis.; her black labs, Maddie and Shadow; and a special friend, Renee Mueller, Two Rivers. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Joseph J. and Adella (Stanzel) Beitzel; paternal grandparents, Wenzel and Theresa Skarvan; one aunt, Marie Kunesh; one brother-in-law, Blaine DeSwarte; one sister-in-law, Sally Deniston; and one nephew, Blake DeSwarte.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2005, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Reed Avenue, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Neil Piepenburg with entombment to follow at Knollwood Mausoleum, Hwy. 310, Manitowoc.
