Joan Roberta Mariner was born the daughter of Benjamin and Zada (Dinsmore) Frazier on Tuesday, June 30, 1936 in Portland, Oregon. Joan lived in Portland for several years, then moved to Santa Maria, California living there for nine years. She then moved back to Oregon living in Tigard for three years. On August 8, 1957, Joan married Stanley Mariner. In 1972 they moved to Newberg where they made their home. She worked for the Newberg School District for twenty years as a Teachers Aide. She worked there until her retirement. After Joan retired she traveled to England, Canada, Alaska and Louisiana. Joan was an avid cook. She enjoyed gardening, also enjoying her spring flowers. Most of all she very much enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. On Wednesday, February 16, 2011, Joan Roberta Mariner died at her home when she was seventy-four years, eight months and eighteen days of age. Surviving and left to honor her life are: husband Stanley Mariner of Newberg; three sons, Stan and his wife Jamie of Dundee, Mark of Newberg, and Ty of Keizer; six grandchildren, Troy, Elicia, Kaitlyn, Cory, Erika and Cody; and those who have come to know and appreciate her where she has lived and worked. Her Graveside Service will be Monday, February 21, at 1:00 p.m. in Willamette National Cemetery, Portland. Arrangements are in the care of Attrell's Newberg Funeral Chapel
