Professional Football Player. For four seasons (1949 to 1952), he played at the linebacker, fullback and kicker positions in the All-America Football Conference and National Football League with the Chicago Hornets, Baltimore Colts and Washington Redskins. Born George Benjamin Buksar, he was raised in Indiana where he attended George Rogers Clark High School in Whiting and following graduation served with the US Navy during World War II. He played collegiate football at Purdue University where he achieved All-American status and continued his athletic accomplishments after transferring to the University of San Francisco; he became a star basketball player while with the Dons. Signed as a non-drafted player by Chicago of the AAFC, Buksar appeared in 36 career total AAFC and NFL games. His most accomplished season was in 1950, when he recorded 6 interceptions for 79 yards with Baltimore. In addition to his football career, Buksar worked with IBM. He was inducted into the Indiana Football Hall of Fame in 2000.
