Joseph J. Jaros, 88 years of age entered Life Eternal at South Shore Hospital on Friday, March 4, 2011. He was born in Minneapolis, MN and was a graduate of Minneapolis High School. During World War II he served in the United States Navy from 1942 to 1946. He served on the USS Nevada and the USS Iowa. He received the Asiatic Pacific Metal with three Stars, the American Theatre Metal and the European- African-Middle East Metal with two stars as well. He also received the Victory Metal. He was a Layout man and draftsman for the Westinghouse Corp. in Boston during his working career. He was known as an expert tinkerer and enjoyed making mechanical repairs of any nature. He resided in Braintree for 46 years formerly having lived in Mattapan. He is the beloved husband of Mary A. (Bonarrigo) Jaros. He is the loving father of Joanne J. Bresnahan married to Eugene Bresnahan of Norwood and Richard J. Jaros married to Evelyn Jaros of White River Junction, VT. He is the loving grandfather of Leah Meehan of South Boston, Renee Marshall of Salem, Brandi Wilson of Quechee, VT and Jacob Allard of Orwell, VT. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren. Joseph was one of 14 children and is presently survived by his two sisters Marcella May and Dolores Johnson, both of Minneapolis, MN. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Church of St. Thomas More, Elm St. and Hawthorn Road, Braintree on Monday March 7, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Father James McCarthy will be the celebrant. Relatives and friends invited. Burial will follow at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. There will be no calling hours at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be sent to the American Lung Association of New England Headquarters, 460 Totten Pond Road, Suite 400 Waltham, MA 02451-1991.
