Suffragist. She was appointed Justice of the Peace for South Pass City, Wyoming, in 1870, making her the first woman ever to hold such a position. She worked for the attainment of suffrage for women in Wyoming. Statues of her stand in Statuary Hall in the United States Capitol and before the Wyoming State Capitol.
