First Class Private, Company I, 346th Regiment, 4th Division. Son of Thomas and Mary Mangion; born November 12, 1891, at Knoxville. Entered service at Galesburg, September 21, 1917; to Camp Dodge, in Company C, 349th Infantry; transfered to Company I, 346th Infantry, at Camp Pike, AR, in November, 1917; sailed for France from Camp Merritt, NJ, April 25, 1918. Went to the front line trenches July 12, 1918, and was continually in action until September 26, 1918, when he was killed in action in the Argonne Forest.
