Funeral services for Charles
Andrew Barnes, aged resident of
Hobbs who died at 2:00 o'clock
Tuesday morning following a
long illness, will take place at
the Hobbs Methodist church at
2:00 o'clock Thursday afternoon.
Rev. E. J. Glendening, church
pastor, will officiate and burial
will be in Elwood cemetery.
Mr. Barnes, age 75, a resident
of Hobbs since be moved there,
with his family while a small
boy, had been in ill health for
some time and suffered a stroke
last January. He became worse
a week ago and passed away
Tuesday morning of pneumonia
and complications.
He was born Dec. 25, 1866, in
Grant county, the son of Jewett
Henry and Rachel (Waymire)
Barnes. In 1887 he was married
to Florence Simmonds, who died
four years later, leaving two children,
Otto of Hobbs and Lillian,
now deceased.
In 1897 he married Margaret
Hartman, who survives with two
children, Ray of Tipton and Ar-
thur at home. A step-daughter,
Mrs. Lovey Davis, lives in Koko-
mo.
Five brothers and a sister also
survive: George and Harvey of
Alexandria, Jacob of Hobbs,
Frank of Elwood, William of Tipton
and Mrs. Ella Downing of
Hobbs. There are four grandchildren
and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Barnes was a lifelong member
of the Holiness church and,
until his illness, took a great deal
of interest in the community in
which he lived.
